U.S. is 6th in Interim Team Seedings

The U.S. Junior Women's Team is seeded in the interim team seeding to finish in 6th place at the 2009 World Junior Squash Championships in Chennai, India. Interim seeding was based on individual results of team members in recent tournaments and past team results. The high seeding for the American team is a direct correlation to the success that Junior Woman's team members, particularly Olivia Blatchford and Amanda Sobhy, have been having overseas in junior tournaments and on the WISPA tour.

If the U.S. team were to finish in 6th place, it would better the 8th place finish that the 2007 team achieved in Hong Kong. The Junior Women's team has never finished higher than 4th, which was achieved by both the 2001 and 2005 teams. The U.S. is seeded behind defending champion Egypt, Malaysia, Canada, India, and Hong Kong. The final seedings, and the positions in the pools, will be decided on the semi-final day of the individual championships.

Interim Team Seeding:
[1] Egypt; [2] Malaysia; [3] Canada; [4] India; [5] Hong Kong; [6] USA; [7] England; [8] France; [9] New Zealand; [10] Australia; [11] Netherlands; [12] Germany; [13] South Africa; [14] Denmark; [15] Spain; [16] Sweden
